This is one of my earliest wall hangings. A hunter in a kayak paddles to deep, cold waters, looking for seals or geese. This is the realm of Nuliajuk (also known as Sedna), the Inuit goddess of the sea. These creatures are hers. The hunter respectfully approaches, calling to the Owls to guide his way, physically and spiritually. He promises to harvest only what his community desperately needs, and to respectfully use it all.
His plea is granted, his hunt successful.
